2024 Updates on American Heartland
Ground was broke in October of last year, but what is going on with the theme park?
July 2024 Update
Things aren’t looking great for American Heartland. Apparently, Canadian based theme park design firm FORREC hasn’t been getting it’s invoices paid.
The company has places a mechanic and materialsmen lien in Craig County District Court against Mansion Entertainment’s OGB Holdings.
So far, this is the breakdown of the monies owed:
- Theme park: $1.6 million
- Hotel and indoor water park: 2.2 million
- RV campground: $1.5 million
Companies that design theme parks are typically paid on a progress basis, not for the completed project design. This way, if a customer wants changes that weren’t previously discussed or there’s scope creep, it can be accounted for and the company’s time paid for.
Before the lien was filed, Mansion Entertainment gave the city council project updates on April 16th. The RV park has been slated to open in 2025 with the theme park opening in 2026. However, Mansion Entertainment told the council that there are delays due to changes in the designs.
There is no mention of a new time table as of yet, but it sounds like Mansion Entertainment plans to keep going ahead with the projects.
