Universal Epic Universe – Orlando, FL

Last Updated on June 5, 2024 by Themepark Freak

In August 2019, Universal Orlando made the announcement that it would be adding a third theme park next to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. At the date of this article, Universal Studios announced the first details on Epic Universe.

Keep coming back to this page as more updates are revealed for the most up to date information!

Epic Universe Themed Lands

Epic Universe is on track to be the size of the current two theme parks combined, nearly doubling the size of Universal Resort.

This park will play host to 5 lands, all vastly different from one another as well as what can be found in the other 2 parks.

The Chronos, Epic Universe in Florida

Celestial Park

As you enter Epic Universe’s front gates, you’ll be walking under the Chronos, the first portal in these epic lands. Once you make it to the other side of the portal, you’ll be in Celestial Park.

This is where you’re going to encounter the magic of the cosmos in this star and planet themed land. Celestial Park is also going to be your gateway into the other four Epic Universe lands.

Besides Celestial Park’s 3 attractions, you’re going to encounter restaurants and other eateries, shopping experiences and even a hotel connected to the park!

The 3 Celestial Park planned attractions in Epic Universe are:

  1. Constallation Carousel, a cosmos inspired carousel
  2. Astronomica, where you can play with dancing fountains
  3. Stardust Racers (formerly Starfall Racers), dual-launch coaster where you race through the sky on a shooting star

How to Train Your Dragon Isle of Berk

The second land within the new Florida park will be from the hit series, How to Train Your Dragon.

From trademark applications, planning records and other information collected over the past few years the attractions for this land are likely to be:

  1. A roller coaster
  2. Boat ride
  3. Place for a HTTYD meet and greet
  4. A stage show
  5. And a 3rd ride

Dark Universe

Anyone remember the last Mummy movie to come out? The one starring Tom Cruise? That movie was supposed to be the first of the Dark Universe franchise movies. In other words, Universal was reimagining it’s classic monsters into modern day box office hits.

Except, if you’re a monster movie buff you’re probably aware that the 2017 Mummy movie wasn’t Tom Cruise’s finest moment. Actually, it was a pretty big flop.

However, I don’t know about you but I still love the classic Universal monsters! Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolfman are all beloved monsters that will do much better in a theme park than in a box office flop.

Dark Universal Attractions

  1. A dark ride
  2. Roller Coaster
  3. Performance area
Dark Universe

Wizarding World of Harry Potter Ministry of Magic

Of course Universal would be letting money sit at the door if they didn’t milk the Wizarding World franchise. When the announcement for the 3rd park went out several years ago, this was one of the most anticipated land announcements.

Once you cross the portal into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you’ll step into 1920s Paris. This, of course is the setting for the Fantastic Beasts movies. And, of course, guests will be able to explore the Ministry of Magic! We know that there is going to:

  1. Be a Ministry of Magic ride of some sort
  2. Live stage performance

It’ll be interesting to see what other goodies Epic Universe is going to deliver. What I do know is this is probably going to be one of the most crowded areas of the new park!

Super Nintendo World

Mario Cart Augmented Reality Ride

Last, but not least, the young and old is going to be able to finally experience Super Nintendo in Florida.

In Super Nintendo World, you will be able to walk into the video game world through the iconic green pipe. On the other side, guests will experience Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country.

Super Mario Land is an immersive and interactive experience. Guests will see their favorite characters and elements they know and love in the games. There will bands guests can wear to play interactive games (unknown at this time if it’s for purchase or issued when you enter).

  1. Mario Cart Bowser’s Challenge (augmented reality ride)
  2. Yoshi’s Adventure (family ride)

Then there is Donkey Kong Country, which is completely different landscaping than Super Mario Land. Guests will enter the jungle.

  1. Mine Cart Madness (roller coaster)

With all of these offerings at Epic Universe, Universal Orlando is setting itself up to be a multiple day stay resort. Watch out Disney, Universal is coming to get you!
